Operation

A cyclone filter is a centrifugal separator in which solid, undissolved particles are separated from the liquid/water, due to their mass.
Solid liquid separation by means of centrifugal force. The liquid (usually water) is swirled around quickly so that the heavy parts fall down under the action of gravity and centrifugal force.
The optimization of the solid-liquid separation depends on the density of the solid and liquid and can be adjusted by the rotation speed.

Application

These cyclone is extremely suitable for processing a large amount of water in a short time. They also take up little space.
Another big advantage over a centrifuge is that there are no moving parts and the centrifugal force is triggered by the speed and pressure of the incoming water.
They are often used for de-sanding (sand-water separation). In the offshore industry cyclone are used to separate oil from water.
