What is an y type strainer?

The Y strainer filter, also knows as y filter strainer, is a type of filter whose housing is in the shape of a ‘Y’ and can easily be incorporated as an inline filter into a system. The equipment is primarily designed to provide protection for pumps, measuring equipment, and valves, but it may be used independently, depending on different process situations. This is a type of filter strainer with perforated filter screens, wire mesh, wedgewire screens or PES filter tissues installed in this equipment.

Besides the Y-Shape, there are also L-Shape and O-Shape strainers available with the choice depending on the position of the inlet and outlet or specific filtration requirements. These systems are equipped with a 2″ to DN200 connection as a standard but could be tailor-made to larger and to different sizes to fit certain needs.
